Most of my life I had only ever half-assedly read books that were assigned to me by my teachers. School did its absolute best job at convincing me that reading was a pointless, boring, waste of time. Unsurprisingly, it took until after college for me to discover that I actually enjoyed learning. One day I decided to give Audible a try and dabble with a free book.
One thing has led to another, and only a few years later I've read 94 books!

This book changed the trajectory of my life.
It came to me at a time where I was struggling to let go.. of anything.. My entire life, I had been treasuring the past. Idolizing it, keeping mementos of every little occasion. They had cluttered my room, and clouded my head. Constantly lying witness to the fact that the life I used to love so dearly, was long dead. I had unwittingly surrounded myself with my sorrows.
Sasaki does a great job here, letting you know that it is okay to let go.
I said goodbye to my things, and I let them go.
I can finally see beyond all the years before. My mind is clearer. I no longer feel that stone on my back. I move through life unattached to material things.
And I move quickly, because nothing is holding me down
This recording is so incredibly full of insight.
This was my introduction to Joseph Campbell,
Over the course of about 6 hours, he will walk you through a brief synopsis of his life's work just months before he ends up passing away. He speaks primarily of mythology, philosophy, and the human psyche, drawing vivid lines which connect it to the whole of life.
I am excited for my inevitable deep dive into his work. It is truly inspiring.
